The numbers also show that cruising is becoming a more popular choice amongst solo travellers, with the company finding that cruisers in their 30s are more likely to travel to exotic destinations.

Venice has called on other popular cruise destinations to unite in an appeal for new cruise ship rules. Pino Musolino, chairman of the northern Adriatic Sea port authority, has written to eight other cruise ports asking them to “join forces” to oblige cruise lines to "launch ships compatible with our structures and the environment".
The 60-day countdown has started for the Sky Princess as the new Princess ship will leave the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy on 12 October 2019. The Sky Princess will offer cruises from a choice of three ports - Athens, Barcelona and Rome - until December 2019 where guests can choose from a variety of seven- to 28-night cruises that will visit various destinations in Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Malta, Gibraltar, Montenegro and Portugal.
The Cayman Islands may be getting closer to a long-awaited dedicated cruise berth as government officials announced the Verdant Isle group as the preferred bidder for the project, which is expected to carry a $240m price tag. The group includes Carnival Corp. and Royal Caribbean Cruises as well as a number of local companies. Local reports said the project would be funded through capital from the two cruise lines and a loan from FirstCaribbean International Bank..
Shanghai will establish a demonstration zone for cruise tourism, approved by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the municipal authorities said on 6 August. Shanghai aims to become a hub for cruise tourism and a base for cruise companies' headquarters across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a world-class home port and cruise tourism destination, by further innovating the policies, expanding its regional influence and upgrading the service capability for the cruise industry, said the municipal culture and tourism bureau.
